So, if you want to catch up with the story of Cal Kestis before you start playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, here we summarize everything that happened in the first game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Who is Cal Kestis?

The protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a young former Jedi Padawan named Cal Kestis, who as a child, was trained in the Force by Master Jaro Tapal. However, after surviving the Clone Wars, Kestis and Tapal also suffered the fall of the Jedi Order on the occasion of Order 66. Sadly, Jaro Tapal was killed in an attempt to protect his padawan as they tried to flee this slaughter, and Cal was more fortunate as he managed to hide on the planet Bracca.

After avoiding the purge, Cal began this new life on Bracca in the era of the Galactic Empire, thus hiding from the Jedi hunters. For the next few years, he began working for the junkyard guild, hiding and trying not to reveal to anyone that he was Force-sensitive. But, unexpectedly, one day Cal was forced to use the Force to save his friend Prauf from a work accident, which caught the attention of an Imperial probe droid that targeted Cal for the Darth Vader-trained Inquisitors.

Thus, Cal began to be pursued by the Second Sister and Ninth Sister, but to his good fortune, at the last moment, he was rescued by Cere Junda and Greez Dritus, who appeared before him in their ship, the Mantis, thus beginning the story of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Story Summary

After the prologue of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, in which Cal meets Cere and Greez, the woman is revealed to be a former Jedi who knew Cal’s master and now, despite being close to the Force, wishes to rebuild the Jedi order with the help of Kestis. She takes the Padawan to the planet Bogano, as there is a vault there that could hold the secret to rebuilding the Jedi order.

On the way to this vault, Cal meets a small droid named BD-1 and upon entering the vault, they both find a message from Cere’s master, Eno Cordova. Thanks to this message, we discover that the vault was built by an ancient civilization called the Zeffo, and inside it, they hid a holocron with the locations of Force-sensitive children. But, it seems that the only way to access the holocron’s information is to overcome a series of tests left by Cordova in the Galaxy.

Journey to Zeffo and the Tree of Origin on Kashyyyk

Following clues, Cal finds in a tomb on the Zeffo homeworld a link to the planet of the Wookies, Kashyyyk, so he heads there, where he decides to ally with Saw Guerrera and the partisans to fight against the Empire that enslaves the Wookies. After freeing them, they find no trace of their chief Tarfful, so Cal returns to Zeffo to investigate a second tomb.

This time Cal has a confrontation with the Second Sister, named Trilla Suduri. She tells him that she was Cere’s apprentice and that Cere betrayed her since the master revealed Trilla’s location to the Empire when she was captured and tortured. For this reason, Trilla, outraged, turns to the Dark Side and, before leaving, warns Cal that Cere will also betray him when the time comes.

Cal ignores this comment and reaches the end of this tomb, discovering that he needs an Astrium Zeffo to open Bogano’s vault. On his way back to the ship, he is surprised by a bounty hunter who captures him on the orders of crime lord Sorc Tomo. Cal soon flees back to the Mantis, where Greez claims it was his fault, as he owes gambling debts from the past.

At the same time, Chief Tarfful of the Wookies has already appeared and is eager to talk to us. He tells us that the answers we need are at the top of Kashyyyk’s Tree of Origin. Once we reach the top, Cal finds a new recording in which he discovers that the Astrium he needs is hidden in Dathomir and, just then, the Ninth Sister appears to stand in his way. After an intense battle, Cal defeats the Inquisitor and sets course for Dathomir.

After the Astrium of Dathomir

On Dathomir, Cal encounters a sister of the night named Merrin, who resents the Jedi because she blames them for the massacre of her people in the Clone Wars. For this reason, she prevents him from entering the planet. Despite everything, Cal manages to make his way to a new tomb, but there he suffers a regression of his past and sees his master Jaro Tapal, with whom he has a confrontation in his mind that destroys his lightsaber.

Defeated, Cal meets here Taron Malicos, a former Jedi who hid in Dathomir and learned to master the dark power of the night sisters. Taron wants Cal to become his disciple, but the Padawan refuses and flees just in time when Merrin shows up to complicate things.

On the Mantis, Cere comes clean with Cal and tells him that the Dark Side once tempted her, and after discovering that Trilla Suduri had become an Inquisitor, she closed herself off to the Force. To encourage the Padawan and convince him to believe in him, Cere gives him his old lightsaber and urges him to create his own. For this, they set course for the planet Ilum where Cal will obtain a Kyber Crystal that will allow him to have his new lightsaber for good.

Ready to return to Dathomir, Cal manages to overcome his trauma over Jaro’s death and convinces Merrin that he is no threat to her. Together they confront Taron Malicos, who is bent on luring Cal to the Dark Side. This threat is eliminated, Merrin joins the Mantis crew, and Cal gets the Astrium he needs to open Bogano’s vault.

Retrieving the Holocron

Finally, inside Bogano’s vault, Cal is able to access Holocron’s information. It is then that, before doing so, Cal has a vision in which he predicts that rebuilding the Jedi order now would be very dangerous, as the power of the Empire is too great, and they would end up being defeated. Even in this vision, Cal sees himself becoming an Inquisitor.

To make matters worse, the Second Sister appears just before accessing the Holocron, stealing it and escaping with it. Cere decides to definitely open up to the Force again and appoints Cal as a Jedi Knight before departing for the watery moon Nur, where the Inquisition Fortress is located. There, on a dangerous mission, Cal manages to reach Trilla to confront her and retrieve the Holocron.

Before he can leave the moon, Darth Vader appears, killing Trilla because he is disappointed in her performance as Inquisitor. Vader then pursues Cal as he flees the fortress, and at the last moment, Cere steps in between them to fight Vader. In the end, Cal floods the fortress and manages to escape safely with Cere.

Back on the Mantis with his friends, Cal opens the Holocron with the location of the Force-sensitive children. But, in a last act, moved by the fear of his vision, he decides to destroy the Holocron so that this information can never fall into the hands of the Empire. He knows that rebuilding the Jedi order would be too dangerous, so the fate is uncertain. Now you’ll have to see in what ways this will influence the events of the new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
