Final Fantasy XVI Eikons guide

There is no doubt that since we first saw the Final Fantasy XVI trailer, what caught our attention were the summons. These new summons called Eikons appear at particular moments in the game and generally open big boss fights.

In this part of the guide, we will introduce you to the Eikons, how to get them, and their abilities.

Phoenix

Phoenix

His special ability is the Igneous Impulse, which allows him to make a dash that teleports Clive closer to or next to the enemy marked as a target. It is beneficial for moving instantly from one enemy to another when one falls.

Crimson Wing

He raises a column of fire with his arm that launches nearby enemies into the air.

Igneous Impulse

Thermal Wave

Flames of Rebirth

Blast nearby enemies in a sea of flames. At the same time, restores the light-colored portion of the vitality bar if any.

  • Can be upgraded for 2390 AP.

Garuda

Garuda

His special ability is the Attractive Claw. This attack attracts small enemies to you and, in the case of larger ones, causes you to execute a short-range upward attack.

Suppose you use it against enemies with a stun bar when half of it is depleted. In that case, a special animation will be executed that stuns the enemy for a few moments and allows you to continue lowering his Momentum bar.

Garuda’s power is obtained automatically as part of the story. Specifically, his power and all his abilities are unlocked at the beginning of Tempests and Galaxies.

Withering claws

Delivers an endless number of claws with both claws. Can also be performed in the air.

Attractive claw

Soars while spinning, throwing surrounding enemies through the air with both claws. Can also be performed in the air.

Evasive claw

Backs up and launches a claw at the enemy. If an attack is dodged while retreating, it counterattacks with more swipes. Can also be executed in the air.

Aeolian blast

Creates a large tornado that chases enemies and inflicts damage several times in a row.

  • Once upgraded, it can be mastered for 4000 AP.

Ifrit

Ifrit

His special ability is the Limit, which you can use regardless of the eikon you have equipped. By pressing L3 + R3, with the Limit bar charged, you can become stronger and regenerate your life for the duration of the effect.

Ifrit’s power is obtained automatically as part of the story. Specifically, you unlock his power and all his abilities when you start A Reason to Live.

Overcoming

Increases combat performance with L3 + R3 when the Limit bar has been filled.

Fiery Orbs

Sparkling Burst

Stabs Lam├║’s staff into the ground and unleashes an electrical discharge in a radius close to the point of impact.

Blind Justice

Causes several lightning bolts to fall from the sky, striking a single enemy.

Electrosphere

Creates an electric sphere that electrocutes nearby enemies when hit.

Rays of Judgment

Throw Lamu’s staff to the skies to summon a great thunderbolt that falls on the enemy.

Titan

Titan

His special ability is Titanic Block, which allows you to block attacks and, if executed as a parry, defending yourself at the last moment, allows you to launch three wild counterattacks that will kill most enemies.

Titanic Lock

Telluric Blast

Wrath of the earth

Generates a ripple that spreads across the surface of the ground and knocks back small enemies while launching them into the air.

  • Once upgraded, it can be mastered for 4500 PH.

Bahamut

Bahamut, the Eikon of Light, is one of the two most feared Eikons in all of Valisthea. His current Dominant is Dion Lesage, prince of Sanbreque. Under the orders of his father, the Emperor, Bahamut serves the war interests of the empire along with his dragon knights.

His special ability is Blazing Wings, a skill with which Clive will glide for a few moments while dodging attacks and charging the Megaflare up to a maximum of 4 (once the skill is mastered) to launch a devastating attack.

Bahamut’s abilities are the following and are unlocked as part of the story in Black Clouds:

Wings of Light

  • Summons Bahamut’s wings and begins to conjure Megafulgor, which he can cast when the bar fills up.
  • Attack: 4/5.
  • Momentum: 2/5.
  • It is available by default.

Impulse

  • Creates several luminous spheres that chase the enemy and inflict repeated damage.

Gigaflare

  • Summons several floating orbs that shoot at the enemy when Clive attacks him with magic.

Bahamut
  • Launches a powerful beam of light that devastates everything in its path.

Shiva

Shiva, the Ice eikon, is dominated by Jill Warrick, a childhood friend of Clive and Joshua. Although she is one of the most powerful Eikon, she is rarely seen in battle.

Her special ability is Diamond Dust, a dash that you can perform in any direction. If you perform the feint twice, you freeze the target, which will suffer additional damage when hit while frozen. If you also perform the perfect feint, like a perfect dodge, you will cause Cryogenization, an instant freezing of the target.

Shiva’s abilities are unlocked as part of the story once you have reached the main mission Across the Strait, and are as follows:

Mesmerize

  • Slides in any direction. If during the slide you press circle again, it creates a shard of ice that freezes enemies that come in contact with it.
  • It is available by default.
  • Can be mastered for 3000 HP.

Ice Age

Odin

Odin is the eikon of Darkness. He is the most feared of all, and his Dominant, Barnabas Tharmr, rules with his power the kingdom of Cenicia.

His special ability is Zantetsuken. With it, what you do is to switch to using Odin’s sword, which, when hitting enemies, will charge the righteous sword, capable of blowing up enemies.

Odin’s abilities are unlocked as part of the story once you get to Fraternity and are as follows:
