How to obtain the Legendary Weapons in Final Fantasy XVI

Clive can use a lot of weapons throughout Final Fantasy XVI, and some of them stand out far above the rest. Once you’ve finished the game for the first time, you can access Final Fantasy Mode in New Game+ and there you can craft a huge amount of weapons.

Whether it’s the Ultima Weapon, Excalibur, or the Götterdämmerung, in this guide, we’ll show you how to get the best weapons in the game.

Ultima Weapon

Here is what you must do to get The Ultima Weapon

This sword must be crafted. To do so, the main requirement is to have completed the story and start a New Game+ and play in Final Fantasy Mode. The design is available from the beginning, but to make it, you have to advance to Back to its origin.

How to get the materials to make The Ultima Weapon

  • The Ultima Weapon requires a series of special materials. Here we will tell you what they are and how to get them quickly:
  • Reinforced Gotterdamerung: it can only be manufactured in New Game+. Follow the steps to get the Götterdämerung and, being in Final Fantasy Mode, the materials you will get are the ones needed for the reinforced version of the weapon.
  • Reinforced Tenebradius: go crafting the eikon weapons as you progress through the story. The Tenebradius is the last one.
  • Mystery of Creation: you will have it in your inventory from the beginning of Final Fantasy Mode.

With the materials in your possession, you can now go talk to Blackthrone to forge this powerful sword.

Can I get the materials again?

No, if you lose or sell the reforged Götterdämmerung, you will have to wait for New Game+ to craft it since they are all limited materials, and you can’t get them again.

How to get Icebrand

To get all the items needed to obtain Icebrand, you must first complete the On-Boarding mission.

Onboarding will be the 42nd story mission. It will start when, at the end of Melody of Hope, you head towards the Sea of Naldia. Start by clearing the deck until a Waloedian Tognvaldr appears. Once you do, look for a door next to the gallery under the deck tunnel.

Inside, open the chest with a Meteorite and go up the stairs to another door. Back on deck, you have to eliminate another couple of waves of enemies. Once the area is safe, head aft and look for another door to open to go down to another section of the hold.

Before you go down the ladder, look to your left to see a chest containing the Earth’s Breath (Wrath of the Earth). There will be more enemies as you open the next door. Once they have fallen, open the door to the ship’s dungeons to see a sequence in which a new boss, Barnabas, will appear.

Although the combat is difficult, it is not designed for you to win. At the end of this sequence, you will get the Glacial Shard, and after the next mission, you will be able to forge the Icebrand.
